Austria allocates €2 million for humanitarian projects in Ukraine

The Austrian Council of Ministers has approved the allocation of €21.5 million for humanitarian organisations working in hotspots. Of this amount, €2 million is earmarked for Ukraine
According to Censor.NET, this was reported by the press service of the Austrian Foreign Ministry.
As noted, global humanitarian crises caused by wars, poverty, migration and progressive climate change pose a huge threat to the lives of millions of people.
"Our security in Europe also depends to a large extent on the security and stability of our neighbours. Therefore, we must do everything possible to prevent illegal migration. Local aid in crisis regions therefore helps in two ways: on the one hand, it is important for improving local life and alleviating human suffering, and on the other hand, it helps to deter illegal migration to Austria and Europe," said Chancellor Karl Negammer.
It is reported that the €21.5 million will be divided into:
- €9.5 million to be allocated to projects in sub-Saharan Africa;
- €8 million for projects in the Middle East;
- €2 million for projects in Ukraine;
- 2 million for projects in Afghanistan and neighbouring countries.
