The Russians may eventually resume reconnaissance from A-50 aircraft. According to intelligence, they have seven such aircraft.

This was stated by Air Force spokesman Ilia Yevlash during the telethon, Censor.NET reports.

"We managed to eliminate a smaller part (of A-50 aircraft - Ed.). According to intelligence, the Russians have about 7 aircraft of this type left, which they are modernising. They had 2 modernised aircraft that we hit. They have the potential, but the question is how quickly they can prepare them. Because quite a few materials and components that these aircraft require are not produced in Russia," he said.

According to Yevlash, the remaining aircraft are quite old, so it is difficult to use them.

"These can be computers that take up a very large space in the aircraft, which do not have the functions they are supposed to perform. And of course, they need to train personnel who can effectively perform their tasks," the Air Force spokesman added.

As a reminder, on the night of 15 February 2024, information emerged about the downing of Russian A-50 and IL-22M aircraft over the Sea of Azov. Experts noted that the destruction of the Russian A-50 long-range radar detection aircraft is a unique case in the history of warfare and a strong reputational blow to the Russian army.

On 23 February, the Ukrainian military shot down another Russian A-50 aircraft over the Sea of Azov.
