Ukraine lost over 40% of the previously seized territory in the Kursk region.

This was reported by Reuters, citing a high-ranking source in the General Staff of Ukraine, Censor.NET reports citing ZN.UA.

According to the source, after the Ukrainian invasion, Russia deployed about 59,000 troops to the Kursk region. The source also confirmed that Russia has sent about 11,000 North Korean troops to the Kursk region.

"For the most part, we controlled about 1,376 square kilometres, but now, of course, this territory is smaller. The enemy is intensifying its counterattacks. Now we control about 800 square kilometres. We will hold this territory as long as it is militarily feasible," the source told the agency.

According to the Reuters source, about 575,000 Russian troops are involved in the war in Ukraine, but Moscow intends to increase this number to 690,000. According to the Agency, these figures do not correspond to those previously cited by Putin - in June, he said that "almost 700,000 Russian troops are in the zone of the special military operation".
