US allows lifting sanctions against Russia if it agrees to peace deal with Ukraine - CNN

Media about Kellogg's plan

Keith Kellogg, who was appointed by US President-elect Donald Trump as a special envoy for the war in Ukraine, proposes to partially ease sanctions against Russia in exchange for an agreement to cease fire, freeze the front line, and introduce a demilitarized zone in Ukraine. If Russia signs a peace agreement, sanctions will be lifted altogether.

This is stated in a CNN article, Censor.NET reports.

It is noted that Kellogg, who was formerly Trump's national security adviser, outlined his vision of a peace plan for the war in Ukraine back in April.

The essence of the plan is to establish a ceasefire as soon as possible and freeze the front line, after which both sides should sit down at the negotiating table.

Kellogg says that Ukraine's membership in NATO is actually a very distant prospect that was previously offered to Kyiv as a sign of symbolic solidarity. Therefore, this prospect should be abandoned indefinitely "in exchange for a comprehensive peace agreement with security guarantees."

Also, according to Kellogg's plan, the United States will continue to provide assistance to Ukraine, probably in the form of a loan. And its provision will depend on the results of negotiations with Russia.

The article states that the amount of aid will be such that Ukraine can defend itself and stop Russia's offensive both before and after the conclusion of a peace agreement.

After the front line is frozen, the plan envisages the creation of a demilitarized zone along this line. For agreeing to this, Russia will receive limited sanctions relief.

CNN writes that a complete lifting of sanctions against Russia is possible only if Russia agrees to a peace deal that Ukraine likes.

Earlier, CNN wrote that Trump would be asked to call for a ceasefire during the negotiations between Ukraine and Russia.
