Zelenskyy on providing military assistance to Syrian rebels: There is no such official information

Zelenskyy does not confirm information that Ukraine provided drones to Syrian rebels

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has denied that the Syrian rebels who overthrew the regime of dictator Bashar al-Assad on December 8 received military assistance from Ukraine.

He said this in an interview with the French newspaper Le Parisien, Censor.NET reports.

He was asked to comment on media reports about Ukraine's assistance to Syrian rebels.

"No. There is no such official information. Today we are talking about the humanitarian track, the fact that we are really ready to help the people of Syria," Zelenskyy replied.

He noted that we are talking about flour, wheat, corn, and oil.

The President added that "there have already been contacts," so Kyiv is preparing such humanitarian aid.

Earlier, the Washington Post reported, citing sources, that the Syrian rebels of the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham group, who overthrew the regime of dictator Bashar al-Assad on December 8, received drones and other assistance from Ukrainian intelligence.
