For just peace, Ukraine should be strengthened to negotiate from position of strength - Michal

Estonia insists on strengthening Ukraine

Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal believes that the only way for a just peace is to provide Ukraine with assistance that will allow it to negotiate from a position of strength.

He said this before the start of the European Council, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinform.

"The main topic today is Ukraine. Last week I spent two days in Ukraine and I want to say that the only way to achieve a lasting and just peace is to give Ukraine a position of strength. This means that Ukraine needs help - money, weapons, air defense - everything we can provide, everything that Europe and its member states can, so to speak, charge them (Ukraine - Ed.) with," said Michal.

The Estonian prime minister reminded that Russia is attacking Ukraine's energy sector, so Europe should increase assistance in this dimension to give Ukraine the necessary position of strength.

According to him, another important topic for European leaders to discuss will be the resilience of Europe itself.

"Russia is a source of hybrid threats for the whole of Europe. So we have to be better prepared to counter all kinds of hybrid threats. This is a very relevant topic that we support," added Michal.
