Interpipe criticized NCREPU’s decision to increase the electricity transmission tariff

The NCREPU’s decision to increase the electricity tariff

The decision of the National Commission for State Regulation in Energy and Utilities (NCREPU) to increase the electricity transmission tariff of NPC Ukrenergo by 29.8% from January 1, 2025, will increase the cost of their products, reduce capacity utilization and reduce tax revenues to budgets of all levels.

According to Censor.NET, this was stated by the industrial company Interpipe, which is one of the largest electricity consumers in Ukraine.

"We regard the new 30% increase in the electricity transmission tariff as another attempt to shift the problems of the energy sector onto its consumers," the company's press service said.

Interpipe notes that the increase in the electricity transmission tariff will reduce the competitiveness of its products in export markets.

As a reminder, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, the largest steel plant in Ukraine, has suspended operations due to an increase in electricity tariffs. The Federation of Employers of Ukraine criticized the decision of the National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission, saying that it is dangerous for the country's economy and could lead to catastrophic consequences.

Earlier, the NEURC increased the electricity transmission tariff by almost 30% to UAH 686.23/MWh starting January 1, 2025.
