Court remanded in custody serviceman Hnezdilov, who publicly went AWOL

On Monday, January 6, the Pecherskyi District Court of Kyiv extended the preventive measure for Serhii Hnezdilov, a soldier of the 56th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade, who publicly went AWOL in September 2024.
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to Suspilne.
Hnezdilov will remain in jail until January 31, 2025, without the right to be released on bail.
Prosecutor Mykola Shelest asked the court to extend the measure of restraint for Hnezdilov in the form of detention until March 15, without the right to post bail. In particular, he believes that the serviceman may be hiding from the investigation and the court.
At the same time, Hnezdilov's lawyer Anastasia Burkovska asked the court to mitigate the measure of restraint, in particular, to change the detention to house arrest.
Hnezdilov himself said that he reminded the judge of his consent to return to the military unit, which, according to him, agreed to his return to service.
Also, according to lawyer Burkovska, they have received an indictment and further hearings on the merits of her client will be held in Dnipro, at the place of the crime.
The first court hearing in the case of Hnezdilov on the merits will be held on Friday, January 10.
Earlier, lawyer Burkovska said that prosecutor Mykola Shelest was putting pressure on the military unit to prevent Hnezdilov from returning to service.
