Denmark should give up Greenland to US "for free world" - Trump

US President-elect Donald Trump said that Denmark should give up Greenland to protect the "free world."
He said this at a press conference, according to Sky News, Censor.NET reports.
"We need Greenland for national security purposes, I've been told that for a long time. People don't really know if Denmark has a legal right to Greenland, but if they do, they should give it up for the free world," Trump said.
In addition, he did not rule out that he could resort to military means or economic coercion to establish control over Greenland and the Panama Canal.
"You don't even need binoculars," he says, claiming that you can see Russian and Chinese ships "all around."
Trump also claims that the population of Greenland will vote either for independence or for joining the United States - and warns that he will hit Denmark with tariffs.
It is noted that in his victory speech, the Republican promised that he was not going to start wars, but rather was going to stop them after taking office.
Trump also said that he intends to rename the Gulf of Mexico as the "Gulf of America."
"We're going to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, which has a beautiful ring to it. It covers a large area, the Gulf of America - what a beautiful name. And it's appropriate," he added.
As reported earlier, amid statements by US President-elect Donald Trump about his desire to "control and own" Greenland, the Danish government announced a significant increase in defense spending on the island.
Also, Donald Trump commented on the resignation of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and suggested that Canada should be included in the United States.
