Ukraine, together with EU, condemns DPRK’s provocative ballistic missile launch - MFA

MFA spokesman Heorhii Tykhyi

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, together with the European Union, condemned the provocative launch of a medium-range ballistic missile by the DPRK on January 6.

According to Censor.NET, this was stated by the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Heorhii Tykhyi.

"Ukraine expresses solidarity with our partners in Japan and the Republic of Korea. As a reminder, Pyongyang is acting with the support of the Moscow regime. Tough collective actions are needed to deter them," Tykhyi wrote on the social network X.

"The European Union stands in full solidarity with its partners in the region, in particular the Republic of Korea and Japan. The EU urges the DPRK to stop such illegal and escalating actions and to accept the proposals for dialogue by the main parties. This is the only way to sustainable peace and security on the Korean peninsula," the EU representative said in a statement.

What preceded it?

As a reminder, the DPRK successfully tested a new hypersonic ballistic missile last Monday. North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, who watched the missile test via video link, said that the new missile "is capable of delivering a strong military strike against enemies, effectively overcoming any dense missile defense system."

The day before, North Korea launched a ballistic missile toward the Sea of Japan. The Reuters news agency noted that the missile launch coincided with the visit of US Secretary of State Antony Blinken to Seoul for talks with his South Korean counterpart on deterring threats from the North.
