A married couple of Russian agents, a 53-year-old woman, and her 59-year-old husband are accused of collecting data on the deployment of electronic warfare and air defense equipment in the Sumy and Kharkiv regions.
This was reported by the press center of the Security Service of Ukraine and the Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office, Censor.NET reports.
What did the investigation reveal?
According to law enforcement, in early 2024, the woman agreed to cooperate with a representative of the Russian special service in one of the messengers. She collected up-to-date information on the movement and location of personnel and equipment, including electronic warfare and air defense assets of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Sumy and Kharkiv regions.
The SSU reported that the perpetrators were a nurse and her husband, a former employee of the disbanded police force who lived in Okhtyrka, Sumy region.
Russian agents face life imprisonment.
The man, at his wife's request, collected and passed on intelligence about Ukrainian defenders in the Sumy region, including by going around the border area and asking his friends for information in the dark.
He would send the information he received via messenger to his wife, who would then "report" to her FSB supervisor.
Since July 2024, the defendants have been in custody without bail.
The offenders are charged under Part 2 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason under martial law by prior conspiracy by a group of persons).
The woman will also be held liable under Part 2 of Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (justification, recognition of the lawfulness, denial of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).
Both enemy agents face life imprisonment.
