Mexican President Sheinbaum suggests renaming the US to Mexican America
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has commented on US President-elect Donald Trump's proposal to rename the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America.

Sheinbaum demonstrated a map of the world from the 17th century, on which North America is marked as Mexican America.
Pointing out that the Gulf of Mexico is a name recognised by the UN, Sheinbaum made a reference to the words of US President-elect Donald Trump, saying: "Why don't we call the United States Mexican America? It sounds nice, doesn't it? He talked about the name, we're talking about the name."
The Mexican president also recalled the former Mexican territories that now belong to the United States and offered to return them.
Earlier, Trump said that he plans to rename the Gulf of Mexico as "America's Gulf with a beautiful ring".
