Mejlis Chairman Chubarov: Third day of Crimea's blockade without incidents

It has been quiet on the third day of Crimea's blockade, everything going on as per activists' plan.

"Last night I held a meeting of our headquarters together with our partners from Right Sector, Maidan Self-Defense, Automaidan, Sich union, and people's deputies. We had a lot of discussions as to what measures should be taken to prevent provocations from the outside. There is no reason to say they will be committed, but we want everything to proceed without complications," Chubarov said.

According to him, many factors may influence blockade's duration.

"I said that we are ready for different time spans - a week, a month, six months. There are many factors to be taken into account," Chubarov said.

He also gave comments about the ban on the word "Majlis" in Crimea's media introduced by the so-called "prosecutor" of Crimea Natalia Poklonskaya who states there is no officially registered organisation in the occupied Crimea and Sevastopol bearing this name.

"I can voice my attitude, I am a historian and I will once again bring evidence of what society has long been aware of. The older generation happened to live during times when the ruling regime banned someone or something, believing it could avoid the problem itself. In Soviet era, it was forbidden to use the word "Crimean Tatar", there was no census by our ethnicity, we were recorded as Tartars. There was the Crimean Tatar language, but there were no Crimean Tatar schools and textbooks. Thus, Russia slips more and more into the abyss, and the problem of Crimea's de-occupation only makes this probability actual. We need to pull out our Crimean land in time and let those imbecile jump into the abyss. Let the Russian society deal with such a medieval-era attitude of Poklonskaya and other invaders," Chubarov stressed.
