Series of explosions rocked Kyiv during ballistic threat, one person died, and non-residential building is on fire in Shevchenkivskyi district. (updated)

Enemy is attacking Kyiv with ballistics

On the morning of 18 January 2025, explosions were heard in Kyiv, and the mayor Vitalii Klitschko announced the air defense operation.

This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to Klitschko's Telegram channel.

"It's loud in the capital again. Air defense is working. There is a threat of ballistics. Stay in shelters!" the message reads.

According to the RMA, air defense forces are also operating in the Kyiv region.

According to the Air Force, there is a threat of ballistic missile use.

Later, Klitschko said there was a fire in the Shevchenkivskyi district. It's a non-residential building. All units are on their way to the scene.

Later, the KCMA informed that according to the operational data, one person was killed in the Shevchenkivskyi district as a result of an enemy attack.

Debris was also recorded falling in the Desnianskyi district of the capital.

Later, the KCMA reported that the number of deaths in the Shevchenkivskyi district increased to 3. According to Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klitschko, windows in the Shevchenkivskyi district were smashed and there is smoke in the entrance of a residential building.

A water supply pipeline was also damaged in the Shevchenkivskyi district.

Repair crews are on their way.

According to the head of the KCMA, Timur Tkachenko, there are currently 4 dead in the Shevchenkivskyi district, and three people are injured. Later it became known that the information about the fourth victim in Kyiv was not confirmed.

In the Holosiivskyi district, a piece of debris was recorded falling, but without ignition.

According to the Air Force, a total of 2 out of 4 ballistic missiles and 24 Shahideen were destroyed.

Later, the State Emergency Service showed the consequences of the Russian ballistic attack on Kyiv.

Censor.NET also reported that the enemy attacked an infrastructure facility in Zaporizhzhia, 8 people were wounded and houses were damaged.
