In 2024, Ukraine reached a historic low in the number of unsolved murders. Last year, 1052 premeditated murders were committed on the territory of the state, of which 1043 perpetrators were brought to justice.
This was announced by Deputy Head of the National Police, Chief of the Criminal Police Andrii Nebytov, Censor.NET reports.
"Almost every country in the world has cold cases - unsolved crimes - this year. However, in 2024, Ukraine recorded the lowest number of murders in the history of independence where no suspects have been identified and where investigative work continues," he said.
Statistics on solving murders
From the published data:
- 11 murders were contract killings;
- 33 crimes were committed with the use of grenades and explosives, 183 with firearms, and 435 with bladed weapons;
- 3 cases of dismemberment of bodies and 5 murders combined with rape were recorded.
In particular, among the 1120 victims: 829 men, 254 women and 37 children. A total of 954 men, 87 women and 21 minors were brought to trial for these crimes.
