Since beginning of day, 89 combat engagements took place in frontline, fighting continues in five sectors - General Staff
The situation on the contact line remains difficult. A total of 89 combat engagements have taken place since the beginning of the day. Most of the fighting was recorded in the Pokrovsk direction.
This is stated in the report of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the situation at the front as of 16 hours on January 18, Censor.NET reports.
Strikes on the territory of Ukraine
Today, hostile artillery and mortar fire hit the communities of Tymofiivka, Kharkiv region; Zaliznyi Mist, Chernihiv region; Popivka, Sosnivka and Prohres, Sumy region.
Situation in the Kharkiv region
In the Kharkiv direction, the enemy stormed the positions of our troops in the area of Vovchansk five times.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy stormed the positions of our troops four times in the areas of Petropavlivka, Lozova and Pishchane. Hlushkivka was hit by a KAB.
Situation in the East
In the Lyman direction, the invading army launched nine attacks on Ukrainian positions near the settlements of Zelenyi Hai, Pershotravneve, Kopanky, Novoiehorivka, Novosadove, Novoliubivka and Zarichne. Four firefights are still ongoing.
In the Kramatorsk direction, the occupants attacked four times in the areas of Chasiv Yar and Stupochky. The enemy dropped two unmanned aerial vehicles on Markove.
In the Toretsk direction, 16 hostile attacks took place in the areas of Toretsk, Krymske and Shcherbynivka. Ukrainian troops have already repelled 10 of them, the fighting continues.
In the Pokrovsk direction, since the beginning of the day, the occupants have made 32 attempts to push our defenders from their positions near the settlements of Vodiane Druhe, Yelizavetivka, Promin, Lysivka, Zelene, Shevchenko, Uspenivka, Slovianka, Andriivka, Dachne, Ulakly and Yantarne. The defense forces are holding back the onslaught and repelled 28 enemy attacks, four combat engagements are still ongoing.
Situation in the South
In the Novopavlivka direction, the militants attacked 12 times near Velyka Novosilka. The fighting continues. The enemy bombed Odradne, Rozlyv, Vesele and Temyrivka.
In the Orikhiv direction, the occupation forces made one assault on the positions of our troops near Novodanylivka.
The enemy tried to storm the positions of our defenders in the Prydniprovskyi direction once, to no avail.
Situation in the Kursk region and the North
The operation in the Kursk region continues. Ukrainian troops have repelled five attacks by the invading forces today, and three firefights are currently underway. The enemy launched 224 artillery attacks, including four from multiple launch rocket systems.
"The enemy has not conducted any active operations in the Siversk and Huliaipillia directions since the beginning of the day," the General Staff added.
