Putin will not stop until West increases pressure, - former Lithuanian Foreign Minister Landsbergis

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis

Former Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis warned of the threat of Russia's hybrid war and called on NATO to take decisive action to deter the Kremlin's aggression.

He said this in an interview with t-online, Censor.NET reports citing the EP.

"Because Putin will continue to wage war - whether in Ukraine, Lithuania, or Germany," Landsbergis emphasized.

He noted that Moscow is waging a hybrid war by interfering in elections across Europe and supporting anti-democratic movements. As an example, Landsbergis cited the activities of pro-Russian forces in Romania and Georgia.

"Elections are no longer decided at the ballot box, but on social media controlled by Russia or China," the former minister emphasized.

Speaking about the recent incidents in the Baltic Sea, Landsbergis called on NATO to actively patrol the region and implement strict control measures.

"They should be able to stop and board suspicious vessels and arrest the crews. Putin should be aware of this: if you make a wrong move, we will come after you," he added.

Landsbergis also believes that the West should show readiness for escalation, as only NATO's strength can force the Kremlin to de-escalate.

"He doesn't want to fight against a strong NATO," the Lithuanian politician summarized.
