Zelenskyy is "no angel", he "shouldn’t have allowed this war" - Trump

US President Donald Trump on Zelenskyy and war

US President Donald Trump has said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is "no angel" and "should not have allowed this war to happen".

According to Censor.NET, the US president said this in an interview with Fox News.

"Zelensky is no angel and should never have allowed this war to begin. He is fighting against a much larger army... Much bigger... And when he spoke so bravely and so on... They are brave, but we gave them billions of dollars. The US gave them $200 billion more than Europe, and Biden never told the Europeans to pay more. (According to the Pentagon, total US aid to Ukraine does not exceed $100 billion)," Trump said.

He also added that the war in Ukraine should end immediately. Ukraine has been devastated by the fighting. And also that Zelenskyy wants to resolve this issue now. He has had enough;

"If I had been president, this war would never have started. Ukraine has been Putin's target all along, but he hasn't attacked for four years. I talked to him about this. Zelensky wanted to fight against a huge army. Much bigger, much more powerful. He shouldn't have done that. Because we could have made a deal. And this deal would have cost nothing. But he decided to fight. Russia is providing a 300,000-strong army, and Zelensky had virtually none... You don't fight in this situation," Trump added.

As a reminder, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that the main criterion for ending the war is not the timing, but the quality of the peace achieved.
