In addition, a deputy of one of the village councils, who is a member of the Standing Committee on Culture, was exposed. He attempted to smuggle 7 items from a collection of archaeological antiquities dating back to the fifth and nineteenth centuries to Canada for sale.
These persons were served a notice of suspicion on the facts of concealment of cultural property from customs control (Part 2 Article 15, Part 1 Article 201 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
It is also reported that a woman was convicted who in July 2024 tried to smuggle 92 pieces of antique collectibles that are cultural property: silver-coloured metal glasses, a silver cup, a jug with a relief ornament, a decorative egg, relief vases with various patterns, figurines and ancient icons of the 16th century.
