Putin wants a new Yalta today, but he should be forced to a just peace instead, - Sybiha

Sybiha warns partners on 80th anniversary of Yalta conference

Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha called on partners to force the Russian aggressor to a just peace.

He said this on the social network X, Censor.NET reports.

"80 years ago, the post-war order and spheres of influence were forged in Yalta. Today, Putin wants a new Yalta, new borders and spheres of influence.

For the sake of a secure world, the aggressor's illegitimate demands must be rejected. Instead, it must be forced to a just peace," the statement said.

As a reminder, the Yalta Conference was held on February 4, 1945, where the leaders of the United States, the USSR, and Great Britain met. It was dedicated to the establishment of a postwar world order.

The so-called "Declaration on Liberated Europe" concluded during the conference allowed the USSR to secure political control over the countries it occupied, which led to the "Sovietization" of Eastern and Central Europe.
