Markarova: Ukraine is ready to discuss need for elections by end of 2025 if Trump’s team raises it

The United States has not discussed with the Ukrainian side the need to hold elections in the country by the end of 2025.
This was stated by Ukraine's Ambassador to the United States Oksana Markarova in an interview with Suspilne, Censor.NET reports.
According to her, if Donald Trump's team raises this issue, Ukraine is ready to discuss it.
"When this issue was theoretically discussed in 2023-24, our position was that it would require the end of hostilities. During the war, we will not be able to provide full access to voting and candidacy," Markarova emphasized.
Earlier, US President Trump's special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, said that the US wants Ukraine to hold presidential and parliamentary elections after a possible ceasefire agreement is concluded.
At the same time, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that according to the law, elections, including local ones, can only take place in Ukraine after the war is over.
He assumed that if the "hot phase of the war" ended, the parliament would lift martial law in the country and set a date for the elections.
