Since beginning of day, 64 combat clashes have occurred, largest number in Pokrovsk direction - General Staff
Since the beginning of the day on Sunday, February 9, 64 combat engagements took place in the frontline. Of these, 26 were in the Pokrovsk sector.
This is stated in the report of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Censor.NET reports .
The General Staff noted that our defenders are stopping the enemy, holding the lines and destroying the plans of the Russians. At the same time, the occupiers continue to focus their efforts on the Pokrovsk and Kursk directions.
Enemy shelling
The border areas of Ukrainian settlements suffered from Russian artillery shelling, including Pokrovka, Novodmitrivka, Shevchenkove, Velyka Pysarivka in Sumy region; Tymofiivka, Klynova Novoselivka, Vidrodzhenivske in the Kharkiv region; Bleshnia, Kostobobriv in the Chernihiv region.
Combat actions in the Kharkiv region
In the Kharkiv sector, the Defense Forces repelled one attack by enemy troops near Vovchansk, and another firefight is still ongoing. In addition, the enemy launched an air strike with unguided missiles near Nesterne.
In the Kupiansk sector, the enemy tried to advance to our positions in the areas of Bohuslavka, Petropavlivka, and Zahryzove four times during the day.
Combat actions in Donbas
The aggressor increased the number of attacks to six in the Lyman sector. He attacked near Zelenyi Hai, Novosergiivka, Yampolivka and Novoliubivka. One firefight is still ongoing.
In the Kramatorsk sector, our defenders repelled two occupants' attacks in the area of Chasiv Yar.
In the Toretsk sector, the enemy tried to advance five times in the areas of Toretsk and Shcherbynivka. Two firefights are currently underway.
In the Pokrovsk sector, the enemy started clashes of varying intensity 26 times. Our troops repelled 22 enemy attacks in the areas of Zelene Pole, Vodiane Druhe, Yelizavetivka, Promin, Pishchane, Udachne, Novooleksandrivka, Andriivka, and Dachne. Four firefights are currently underway. The enemy dropped two bombs on Zvirove and Pokrovsk.
Fierce fighting continues in the Novopavlivka sector. Near Kostyantynopil, our defenders repelled five enemy attacks during the day, and two more engagements are still ongoing.
The situation in other sectors
In the Huliaypole sector, Huliaypole and Chervone were hit by UAVs, and Novosilka was hit by unguided aerial missiles.
In the Orikhivsk sector, the areas of Piatykhatky and Kamianske were hit by UAVs.
In the Prydniprovske sector, the enemy did not conduct any active operations.
In the Kursk region, Ukrainian defenders repelled 11 invaders' attacks, seven combat engagements are still ongoing. In addition, the enemy made 233 artillery attacks, including four from multiple launch rocket systems.
There were no significant changes in the situation in other sectors.
"Ukrainian troops are depleting the enemy along the entire combat line and in the rear," the General Staff emphasized.
