Drones attacked oil refinery in Saratov region. VIDEO
On the night of 11 February, air defence was operating in the Saratov region. Local residents reported a drone attack on an oil refinery.
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to local Telegram channels and Russian media.
"Air defence forces have eliminated a UAV. There is damage to an industrial plant in Saratov. Operational services are working in the areas where the wreckage could fall," said Saratov Region Governor Roman Busargin.
The attack on the Saratov oil refinery was confirmed by the head of the CCD Andrii Kovalenko
"The Saratov refinery was attacked. This is not the first attack. The Saratov Oil Refinery is one of the key facilities of Russia's fuel infrastructure. Its refining capacity reaches 7 million tonnes of oil per year," the statement said.
The plant plays an important role in supplying the Russian army with fuel. It was critical for military logistics during the Second World War, and today it remains an important element of the fuel supply.
The Saratov Oil Refinery is one of the oldest oil refineries in Russia, formerly known as the "Cracker" Plant, and is part of the "Rosneft" oil company.
The company produces more than 20 types of products: unleaded petrol, diesel fuel, fuel oil of all major brands, bitumen, vacuum gas oil, and industrial sulphur.
The last time drones attacked the Saratov refinery was in mid-January. As a result, according to unofficial reports, tanks in the oil storage facility caught fire.
A week earlier, Ukrainian drones had struck an oil depot on the opposite bank of the Volga, in Engels, where a strategic bomber base is located.
