Joint NATO-Ukraine Analysis, Training and Education Center (JATEC) opens in Poland

NATO-Ukraine Training Center in Poland

The Joint Analysis, Training and Education Center (JATEC), established by the decision of the NATO Washington Summit, was opened today in the Polish city of Bydgoszcz.

This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to Ukrinform.

"The opening of the Joint Analysis, Training and Education Center (JATEC) is a real step forward for NATO and for Ukraine. JATEC's work will help the Alliance and Ukraine to be stronger, and all of us to be safer... This is a unique civil-military organization, the first to be jointly led by NATO and a partner country. Here, we will learn from Ukraine, and gain first-hand experience in the fight against Russian aggression. JATEC will strengthen Ukraine's security and defense sector, develop its long-term deterrence and defense posture, and help Ukraine to be fully interoperable with NATO," said NATO Deputy Secretary General Radmila Šekerinska.

The NATO Deputy Secretary General reminded that JATEC is just one example of the Alliance's strong commitment to support Ukraine. Allies continue to supply weapons, equipment and ammunition to Ukraine, with Allies accounting for 99 percent of these supplies. A specialized NATO command has been established in the German city of Wiesbaden to coordinate this assistance.

"NATO's broad package of assistance is enabling Ukraine to become more resilient, strengthen its security and implement important reforms. We are helping Ukraine to defend itself today in order to strengthen Ukraine's position in the future. The stronger the position, the better the chances for a just and lasting peace. We are also helping to develop Ukraine's capabilities for the longer term, so that it can deter any Russian aggression in the future," Shekerinska emphasized.

"JATEC is also a value for NATO. I want to be very clear about this today: it (the center - ed.) also strengthens our own NATO deterrence and defense posture. We will listen, learn and act on the experience of our Ukrainian friends who are fighting so heroically against Russian aggression. This demonstrates that Ukraine is a close partner for NATO and that we stand by our previous decisions," added the Deputy Secretary General.
