Only United States can ensure Putin’s deterrence, - Healy
Only the United States can deter Russian dictator Vladimir Putin from attacking again.
According to Censor.NET, citing the Guardian, this was stated by British Defense Secretary John Healey.
"We need a security guarantee for Ukraine in Ukraine that is capable of delivering what President Trump has promised and says he wants, which is a lasting peace that requires an end to the Russian attack and no repeat of it in the future," he said.
Healy noted that European countries should play a leading role in this guarantee, but need the support of the United States.
"Because, in the end, only the United States can provide the deterrence that will prevent Putin from attacking again," he added.
According to Gilli, the details of such guarantees for Ukraine are being developed. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will discuss this issue with Trump during their meeting in the near future.
"But the one thing I'm not going to do is discuss the details of the work we're doing, the discussions we're having with our allies and the United States, because the one thing I don't want to do is make Putin any smarter," the British defense minister emphasized.
