Elections during war is impossible and immoral – Tymoshenko

The leader of the Batkivshchyna ("Fatherland") party, Yuliia Tymoshenko, believes it is impossible to hold elections during the war.
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to Tymoshenko's Facebook page.
"Ukraine is a sovereign state! Volodymyr Zelenskyy is the President of Ukraine. He is legitimate until another is elected.
Only Ukrainians have the right to decide when and under what conditions they change their government. Today, there are no such conditions!
"Elections in time of war are impossible and immoral, because our military will not be able to participate. And without them, elections will never be legitimate. Voting in time of war cannot be called fair either, because people will not be able to control it.
It is suicidal to start an election race during the war, tearing the country into political camps. We need unity and resilience now more than ever. None of us will allow such elections until the war is over. Our enemies and even our allies may not like this, but it is true.
The only sequence that has the right to live is the following: first - peace negotiations, exclusively with the participation of Ukraine, then - achievement of a just peace, and only then - fair elections with a guarantee of the right to vote for our military," wrote the leader of Batkivshchyna.
Tymoshenko also outlined her vision of Ukraine's actions in the current situation:
"It's not the elections we need to hold immediately, but the following, point by point.
- First of all. Put aside empty emotions and direct all diplomatic efforts to restore and preserve Ukraine's friendly relations and unity with all the countries of the free world that united on the Ramstein platform to support Ukraine at the beginning of the war. Our first task is to prevent the Kremlin from insidiously and cynically destroying this international unity. And this is exactly the scenario that is now being realized - the enemy is trying to leave Ukraine isolated.
- Secondly. Immediately convene an extraordinary session of the Parliament and review the budget. All corrupt and pre-election expenditures in the budget, all billions of dollars in financial transactions of the National Bank should be cut, and all released financial resources (according to our calculations, this is more than 300 billion hryvnias) should be immediately directed to motivational mobilization and full loading of our defense industry enterprises with state orders for the production of weapons. Today, these enterprises are operating at only 35% capacity.
- Thirdly, stop any squandering of our mineral resources. No one has the right to generously hand out our national wealth on behalf of the Ukrainian people without their consent. We owe nothing to anyone – it is us who are owed, according to the Budapest Memorandum!
