Zelenskyy thanked him for Croatia's support for Ukraine and the recent decision on a new military aid package.
"It is important to maintain a common understanding of current events. We discussed the next steps and joint plans for the near future. Europe's position today determines its security tomorrow. We all need a strong and lasting peace. We appreciate the firm position of Croatia that the ceasefire is impossible without clear security guarantees," the President noted.
For his part, Plenkovic said on the social network X that he had discussed the current security situation in Ukraine and peace initiatives with Zelenskyy.
"We want to achieve peace, but a just peace that will ensure Ukraine's sovereignty and the reintegration of the occupied territories. Our common position is that the views of Ukraine and the EU should be respected and represented in the negotiations," the Croatian Prime Minister said.
"On the third anniversary of the Russian invasion on Monday, February 24, I will participate via video link in the summit organized by President Zelenskyy, and this year we will also support the adoption of a new UN resolution," the minister added.
