Ireland to provide Ukraine with Giraffe Mark IV radar systems to strengthen air defense

Ukraine will receive Giraffe Mark IV from Ireland

Ireland intends to transfer a significant part of its outdated air defense systems, including Giraffe Mark IV radar systems, to protect Ukrainian cities and towns.

According to Censor.NET, this was reported by The Irish Times.

"The transfer of the Giraffe Mark IV radar systems is part of the Government's commitment to help Ukraine with non-lethal military equipment and training," the article says.

The country has previously participated in EU contributions to Kyiv, but their contribution was limited to"non-lethal" purposes, such as the supply of diesel fuel for artillery and demining.

According to the Irish Times, the transfer of defense systems is aimed at demonstrating "unwavering solidarity" with Ukraine, especially in the face of pressure on the Ukrainian leadership from the Donald Trump administration, which is seeking to negotiate with Russia to end the war.

"Continued support for Ukraine is a necessity, not a choice," said EU Foreign Minister Simon Harris.

It is expected that Ireland will reaffirm its support for Ukraine at international meetings in Brussels and the United Nations in New York on Monday, the third anniversary of the full-scale Russian invasion.

As a reminder, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre announced that in 2025 his country will allocate 1 billion euros for humanitarian and civilian aid to Ukraine.
