Europe should move from freezing to seizing Russian assets - Lammy

Russian assets should be seized, says David Lammy

British Foreign Secretary David Lammy believes that Europe should move from freezing Russian assets to arresting them.

This is reported by Censor.NET with reference to Reuters.

"This is not an issue in which any government can act alone. We must act together with our European allies," he emphasized.

According to the minister, the issue of seizing Russian assets has been discussed between the G7 leaders and other international allies.

"Of course, Europe must act quickly, and I believe that we must move from freezing assets to seizing them," Lammy added.

As a reminder, French President Emmanuel Macron said that confiscation of frozen Russian assets is impossible because it contradicts international law, but the proceeds from them can be used to restore Ukraine.

EU High Representative Kaja Kallas said that not all EU countries support the confiscation of frozen Russian assets, so it is too early to talk about possible timing of the decision.
