The acting mayor of a town in Rivne region and a member of the city council were caught taking bribes.
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office.
"The acting chairman of the city council, with the complicity of a local deputy, extorted an illegal benefit from one of the families of the territorial community in the form of a 0.38-hectare land plot worth UAH 1.3 million. In return, they promised to assist in speeding up the consideration by the city council of issues related to the approval of detailed plans and change of land use designation," the statement reads.
Law enforcement officers detained the suspects, and the issue of choosing a measure of restraint is being decided.
They have been served a notice of suspicion of obtaining an illegal benefit on a particularly large scale (Part 4 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
