Poland orders additional 5 thousand Starlink for Ukraine

Poland is preparing to transfer a new batch of Starlink terminals to Ukraine to ensure stable communication at the front.
This was announced by the Minister of Digitalization of Poland Krzysztof Gawkowski, Censor.NET reports citing NV.
Gawkowski emphasized that this connection is critical for the Ukrainian army's ability to resist the Russian aggressor. According to him, the Polish government plans to significantly increase the number of Starlink devices, in particular, an additional 5,000 devices have already been ordered.
"Poland has been supplying the Internet to the Ukrainian community and the Ukrainian army for many, many months. Thanks to Starlink, tasks that allow us to hold the frontline are being performed," the minister said.
By the end of 2024, Poland had handed over 24.4 thousand Starlink terminals to Ukraine, and in November ordered a new batch. Formally, Poland provides the devices for temporary use, but the issue of their return has not yet been discussed.
In 2024, Poland spent PLN 120.66 million (over UAH 1.2 billion) on the purchase and maintenance of Starlink. Funding in the amount of 186.8 million zlotys (about 2 billion hryvnias) is planned for 2025.
Earlier it was reported that US officials are discussing the possibility of disconnecting Ukraine from the Starlink satellite Internet system owned by Elon Musk if Kyiv refuses the proposed minerals deal.
In turn, Poland said that it had purchased the Starlink satellite Internet systems for Ukraine and could not imagine that anyone could break the agreement to which Poland was a party.
Subsequently, the American billionaire and head of the U.S. Government's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Elon Musk, called Reuters' information about U.S. threats to shut off Starlink, which he owns, a lie.
