US Congress suggests China could use Mask to influence Trump - Reuters

Leaders of the US House of Representatives Committee on China have warned that Beijing may try to use leverage over Elon Musk to soften Donald Trump's policy toward China.
This is reported by Reuters, Censor.NET informs.
Thus, the chairman of the committee, Republican John Mulenaar, and his deputy, Democrat Raja Krishnamurthy, said that the Chinese authorities plan to use US business leaders, including Musk, who have commercial interests in China, to achieve their goals in negotiations with Washington.
"As for Elon Musk, I believe that the Chinese Communist Party will try to use every opportunity," Moolenaar said.
According to him, Congress will try to prevent Beijing from negotiating with the White House through Musk or other American businessmen.
Krishnamurthy noted that China sees Musk as a way to bypass the Chinese hawks in Trump's national security team, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio and National Security Advisor Mike Waltz.
"They see him (Elon Musk - Ed.) as an asset for them in any negotiation, a way to get around Rubio, a way to get around Waltz, a way to get around those they see as less friendly to China. I hope the president will listen to everyone very carefully," he said.
The lawmakers did not provide facts to support their suspicions.
The White House said that Musk does not have the authority to make decisions in the Trump administration, and his efficiency initiative has no direct impact on US foreign policy.
