Ukraine’s demining units cleared over 5,000 hectares of land in February – Ministry of Defense

In February 2025, demining units of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine successfully cleared 5,351.5 hectares of land from explosive ordnance, including 5,211.9 hectares of agricultural land.

This was reported by the Ministry of Defense, Censor.NET informs.

According to the Main Directorate of Mine Action, Civil Protection, and Environmental Safety, a total of 32.67 km of highways and 13.4 km of power lines were inspected and cleared during this period. During the demining operations, 3,196 explosive devices were discovered and destroyed, bringing the total number to 426,084 since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion.

The report states that demining units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the State Special Transport Service are involved in clearing de-occupied territories. In February, the number of certified mine action operators increased by three, bringing the total to 83 as of the end of February 2025.

The Ministry of Defense emphasized that, in accordance with the Law of Ukraine 'On Mine Action in Ukraine,' humanitarian demining is carried out exclusively by certified mine action operators.
