US Treasury Secretary Bessent: No economic agreement with Ukraine is currently under consideration

Following a dispute between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US leader Donald Trump, the US is not considering signing an economic agreement with Ukraine.
This was stated by US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent in an interview with CBS News, Censor.NET reports .
Bessent explained that the agreement, which was not signed on 28 February, is a general economic agreement, not just on minerals.
He also said that a peace agreement was a prerequisite for its approval.
"It is impossible to conclude an economic agreement without a peace agreement. A prerequisite for an economic agreement is the desire of the Ukrainian leadership to conclude a peace agreement," the US official said.
According to Bessent, the deal is not being discussed after Zelenskyy left the White House early.
"I think we have to see if President Zelenskyy wants to continue. What's the point of an economic agreement that will become controversial if he wants the fighting to continue," the US Treasury Secretary said.
