Latvia allocates EUR 10 million for production of Ukrainian drones

The Cabinet of Ministers of Latvia has approved an investment of 10 million euros in the Ukrainian drone industry.
According to Censor.NET, citing the Ministry of Defense of Latvia, the Latvian government approved the decision at a closed meeting.
"Now it is important to support Ukraine not only in words but also in deeds. The support provided by Latvia to Ukraine has never been symbolic, we provide real assistance that helps to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities," said Latvian Defense Minister Andris Spruds.
It is noted that the meeting considered information on the amount of support provided to Ukraine within the framework of the UAV Coalition in 2024, as well as proposals for the necessary actions to ensure support for the drone capabilities needed by Ukraine in 2025.
"The Cabinet of Ministers has agreed to strategically invest €10 million in the Ukrainian drone industry to promote cooperation between the defense industries of both countries and implement joint projects," the statement said.
It is also reported that the Latvian government has allocated another EUR 20 million for the purchase of drones in the format of the Drone Coalition this year.
The Latvian Ministry of Defense also added that the total support of all member countries of the Drone Coalition for Ukraine's drone capabilities in 2024 reached 1.8 billion euros. In 2024, Latvia allocated 20 million euros to the UAV Coalition. Last year, Latvia supplied almost 5,000 drones to Ukraine.
"Latvia will continue to support Ukraine against Russian aggression until Ukraine's victory," the Latvian Defense Ministry added.
Earlier, it was reported that over the year of its operation, the Drone Coalition received more than €2 billion in assistance from partners.
