Peace deal with Russia should include security guarantees for Ukraine, - Starmer

Starmer wants to ensure that Ukraine is in a stronger position in 2025

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has said that any peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia must contain reliable security guarantees to prevent a new attack by the Kremlin.

This is reported by The Guardian, Censor.NET informs.

Starmer stressed that the main task of the peace talks is to achieve a "lasting peace" for Ukraine.

"The whole point of securing a lasting peace - and making sure that any agreement, if it is made, is protected - is to avoid conflict, to make sure that we do have peace," the British Prime Minister said in response to questions from members of parliament.

He emphasized that the biggest risk of a repeat conflict is that Putin may believe that any agreement can be violated without consequences. Therefore, according to Starmer, guarantees for any agreement are necessary to achieve a stable peace.

The British Prime Minister also expressed his opinion on limiting intelligence sharing between the United States and other allies, including Ukraine.

"I have always been clear that we must ensure that the US, Britain, Europe and Ukraine work together, but we must not choose between the US and Europe," he said.
