No specific aid package for Ukraine to be announced at EU summit – media

Help for Ukraine from Europe

EU leaders are planning to consider further assistance to Ukraine at an extraordinary summit on March 6, but there is currently no specific decision on a new financial support package.

This is reported by the STT agency, Censor.NET informs.

Journalists familiar with the text of the document note that there is no mention of specific amounts of aid. According to EU sources, there is no agreed decision on funding yet.

At the same time, the draft conclusions state that:

  • EU leaders call for swift action to support Ukraine.
  • Many EU countries have expressed their readiness to significantly increase supplies of ammunition, air defense systems, and interceptor missiles.
  • European states are ready to participate in security guarantees for Ukraine.
  • Any potential peace agreement should include reliable security guarantees for Ukraine.

A senior EU official told reporters that although there may not be specific figures, the summit will declare its intention to continue supporting Ukraine, and detailed discussions will continue at the next meeting of EU leaders in two weeks.

As a reminder, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen presented five key points of the "Rearm Europe" plan, which will mobilize about 800 billion euros for EU defense spending and support for Ukraine.
