United States is ready to start war with China, - Hegseth

Pete Hegseth

Beijing said it was ready for "any war with the United States" after Washington raised tariffs on Chinese goods. After that, Pentagon Chief Pete Haggett said that the United States is also "ready" for a war with China.

This is reported by the New York Post, Censor.NET informs.

"We are ready. Those who seek peace must prepare for war. That is why we are rebuilding our army. We live in a dangerous world with powerful developing countries with very different ideologies. They are rapidly increasing defense spending, modern technologies, and they want to displace the United States. If we want to deter a war with the Chinese or others, we have to be strong," Hagseth said, emphasizing the importance of "being strong."

According to Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jiang, if the United States really wants to solve the problem of drugs coming into the country, it should consult with China, "treating each other as equals."

"If war is what the United States wants, whether it is a tariff war, a trade war, or any other type of war, we are ready to fight to the end," the diplomatic mission said.

The embassy also reposted a statement by a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson, who said that the fentanyl issue was a "far-fetched pretext" for raising US duties on Chinese imports, and that Beijing's countermeasures to protect its rights and interests were entirely legitimate and necessary.

As a reminder, on March 4, US President Donald Trump's new 25% tariffs on imports from Mexico and Canada, as well as a doubling of duties on Chinese goods to 20%, came into effect.
