This is proxy war between nuclear powers - US and Russia - Rubio

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has called the fighting in Ukraine a proxy war between Russia and the United States.
As Censor.NET reports with reference to the US State Department website, Rubio said this in an interview with Fox News.
"Frankly, this is a proxy war between the nuclear powers - the United States, which is helping Ukraine, and Russia - and it needs to end. But no one has any idea or plan on how to do it," Rubio said.
According to him, US President Donald Trump considers the war in Ukraine "protracted and hopeless" because Ukraine, they say, only wants to be helped continuously, and Russia, although it has achieved some progress in the war, does not dominate it.
"This is not a strategy. The United States asked the Ukrainians not to sabotage the process of finding a peaceful way to end the war.
However, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy did so, deciding to question Vice President J.D. Vance's words about the possibilities of diplomacy, Rubio added.
This is what led to the dispute between the Ukrainian and American presidents in the Oval Office, Rubio said, adding that he was glad to see Zelenskyy reconsider his decision.
"It's hard to take further steps when the other side of the conflict says they are not interested in peace at all, and that was exactly the message that we heard. I hope that has been corrected. I hope that will be corrected more clearly," he said.
Now, according to the Secretary of State, the Ukrainians will have their demands, and the Russians theirs, so the US will have to see "how far apart they are," and after that, "diplomacy should come into play."
As a reminder, Trump, in his speech to Congress, demonstrated a certain softening of his position on Ukraine after a discussion with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House.
