US has made ’lot of progress’ with Ukraine and Russia in recent days – Trump

US President Donald Trump

US President Donald Trump says he has made "a lot of progress" in resolving the Russian-Ukrainian war in recent days. He emphasizes that Ukraine will be forced to sign a peace agreement with Russia.

He said this at a press conference at the White House, Censor.NET reports.

"We have made significant progress with Ukraine, we have made significant progress with Russia over the past 2 days. And it would be great to get these two to the negotiating table," Trump said.

At the same time, the American leader emphasizes that Ukraine will have to make a peace deal because "it has no choice." He believes that Ukraine wants to conclude this peace agreement with Russia.

He also stated, "It would be great if everyone got rid of their nuclear weapons."

"I know that Russia and we have the most (nuclear warheads - ed.). China will have the same number within 4-5 years. It would be great if we could all denuclearize because the power of nuclear weapons is insane," the US president added.

Earlier, US Special Representative to Ukraine Keith Kellogg said that President Donald Trump’s decisions to suspend military aid and intelligence sharing were intended to 'push Ukraine toward negotiations.'

On Thursday in Brussels, Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine and the United States had 'resumed work' and expressed hope that 'a meaningful meeting will take place next week.'

Later, he confirmed that the teams from Ukraine and the United States would meet in Saudi Arabia next week.
