Russians break through Ukrainian defence line near Sudzha - media

Russian troops broke through the Ukrainian defence line south of Sudzha in the Kursk region. The Ukrainian Armed Forces are trying to stabilise the situation.
This is reported by UP, citing sources in one of the units, Censor.NET informs.
"There has been a breakthrough in the (Ukrainian - Ed.) blockade area. In short, this is the area where our units are trying to hold back the enemy so as not to be threatened with partial or complete encirclement.
This did not happen suddenly, but gradually and systematically. Even before the New Year, the Russians came to Kurilovka (a village south of Sudzha - Ed.), where one of our brigades left its positions. After that, the enemy amassed forces and systematically conducted assault operations. Yesterday and the day before yesterday (6 and 5 March), they made a breakthrough - this is the result," the source said.
A source in one of the units operating in the area in Kursk region said that the Defence Forces are trying to stabilise the situation:
"Now we are trying to stabilise the situation so that the enemy cannot completely close the communication routes."
The publication assumes that the Russian Federation has made a breakthrough near Sudzha to gain access to the key road of the Ukrainian group in Kursk region - Sumy-Yunakivka-Sudzha. Since the beginning of January 2025, the ruscists have been trying to take control of this road.
At the end of February, the Russians made their first attempt to approach this road from the north - through the village of Novenke.
