Zelenskyy needs to acknowledge that Europe, not United States, will provide security guarantees for Ukraine – Bessent

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to visit Ukraine this week

Security guarantees for Ukraine should be provided by European countries, not the United States.

This was stated by US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent in a commentary to Sky News, Censor.NET reports.

Bessent noted that the United States wants to transfer responsibility to Europe for providing security guarantees to maintain peace in Ukraine.

"Volodymyr Zelenskyy needs to acknowledge that security guarantees for Ukraine will be provided by Europe," he said.

In addition, Bessent said in an interview with CNBC that the situation regarding any peace agreement to end Russia's war against Ukraine is "unstable."

Earlier, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said that any peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia must contain reliable security guarantees to prevent another attack by the Kremlin.
