Putin doesn’t want peace or truce, he’s just stalling for time - Stubb

Stubb is convinced that Russia does not want peace and ceasefire

Russia has not abandoned its goal of destroying Ukraine's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

This was stated by Finnish President Aleksandra Stubba after a video conference of the "coalition of the willing" organized by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Yle writes, Censor.NET reports.

Stubb noted that Russia is trying to play a long game in Ukraine, but does not really want a ceasefire or peace.

According to the politician, Russia is now trying to stall.

"Putin is not seeking a truce, ceasefire or peace. His fundamental goal, namely the destruction of Ukraine's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, has not changed at all. We hope that we can continue the pressure from the West to force Russia to cease fire," the Finnish leader said.

According to Stubb, a step forward was made at the meeting of the "coalition of the willing" organized by Starmer. He said that a coalition of countries ready to support Ukraine is being formed, which includes about 30 like-minded countries from Europe and beyond.

"Britain and France are playing a strong leadership role, and everyone has a clear vision of the situation: Ukraine wants peace and a ceasefire, Russia does not," he said.

As a reminder, an online meeting of the "coalition of the willing" took place on Saturday, March 15. Following the meeting, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said that the military leaders of a number of countries plan to meet in the UK on March 20 to discuss support for Ukraine's future security.
