Approximately 70% of refugees can return to Ukraine after war – Chernyshov

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs commented on the US revocation of legal status for refugees

About 70% of Ukrainian refugees can return to Ukraine, provided that our country changes and develops accordingly.

According to Censor.NET, this was stated by Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of National Unity of Ukraine Oleksiy Chernyshov in an interview with BBC Ukraine.

According to him, we are talking about 30% of fellow citizens who are ready to return to Ukraine after the onset of security and stable conditions. Another 40% will make their decision based on the success of Ukraine, its economic recovery, reconstruction and development.

"I want to emphasize that 'returning Ukrainians' is not a very correct term. This is a decision that Ukrainians will make on their own. Our task is to be competitive because we will be competing with other countries for the 40%," Chernyshov explained.

The Vice Prime Minister emphasized that after the war is over, the Ukrainian government will actively work to create an open economy, attract investment, simplify taxes, and support business. That is, to liberalize the market and security guarantees, which will actually contribute to the rapid development of the country.

"This is what will create jobs, and they will motivate Ukrainians to return," Chernyshov summarized.

Earlier, Chernyshov said that there would be no compulsory measures to return Ukrainians from abroad.
