Zelenskyy on stopping US aid: Americans wanted to demonstrate to Russia that they are in middle

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes that Russia may have managed to influence some members of the White House team to believe that Ukraine itself does not want to end the war.
The head of state said this in an interview with Time, Censor.NET reports.
"Their signal to the Americans was that Ukrainians do not want to end the war, and something must be done to force them. Of course, this was disinformation. It's not true. The Russians don't want (to end the war), and we see it now, as we always have. But this situation has arisen, most likely, because of the lack of dialogue between the United States and Ukraine," he said, commenting on the situation with the suspension of US aid.
Zelenskyy believes that the Americans wanted to demonstrate to the Russians that they are in the middle. They want to be a mediator, not a partner of one side.
"We told them: okay, if you're not on our side, at least stay in the middle. So, if the Russians don't accept the full ceasefire that you have proposed, we want to see additional sanctions. They do not need to stand still for a long time, just as there was no pause in our case. But you need to demonstrate this. We are looking forward to these steps from the American side," the President explained.
