Soldier died because he was not allowed to go to medical unit: commander fined 17 thousand UAH - media

Andriy K., the commander of an engineering and sapper unit of one of the mechanized battalions, was found guilty of negligence in military service, which led to the death of his subordinate.
The Judicial and Legal Newspaper reports this, Censor.NET informs.
Thus, at about 22:00 on February 26, 2025, soldier M. informed Andriy K. about the urgent need to go to a medical center due to heart problems. However, Andrii K. refused to let the soldier go to the medical center. Later that night, the soldier died.
The death certificate states that the soldier died as a result of "acute coronary insufficiency."
"During the investigation of this incident, the actions of the unit commander were found to violate several articles of the Statute of the Internal Service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in particular, regarding the need to preserve the life and health of personnel, the need for attentive attitude to subordinates and their problems, etc.
A report on an administrative offense was drawn up against the junior sergeant under Part 2 of Art. 172-15 (negligent attitude to military service in a special period) of the Code of Administrative Offenses," the statement said.
What the court decided
Andrii K. pleaded guilty but did not appear at the court hearing.
By the decision of the Sloviansk City District Court of the Donetsk Region, he was held liable in the form of a fine of UAH 17 thousand.
