Drones attacked Engels again - Saratov airport is closed. VIDEO
The Russians said that on the night of 28 March, Ukrainian drones again attacked the area where the Russian strategic aviation base in Engels (Saratov region) is located.
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to Russian telegram channels.
In particular, it is noted that several explosions were heard in the Engels area. Before that, the governor of Saratov region announced the threat of a drone attack on his telegram channel, and the "Engels Online" telegram channel reported that an air raid siren was sounding in the city.
Rosaviatsiya announced that it had closed Saratov airport.
"To ensure the safety of civil aircraft, temporary restrictions on the acceptance and release of aircraft were introduced early this morning at Saratov Airport," the Russian Civil Aviation Agency said in an official statement.
Russian telegram channels report that an air raid siren continues to sound in Engels and explosions are heard from time to time.
Subsequently, the governor of Saratov region, Roman Busargin, announced that, according to preliminary information, there had been no damage or casualties as a result of the Ukrainian drone attack and its repulsion.
The Russian Ministry of Defence said in the morning that 19 drones were shot down over Saratov region at night.
As a reminder, on 20 March, dozens of Ukrainian drones attacked Engels, which local authorities called the most massive raid since the beginning of the war. Local residents posted footage of a large fire at the airbase, and local authorities admitted that there was a "fire" at the airfield.
This week, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces claimed that a raid on 20 March destroyed a stockpile of cruise missiles that Russians were firing at Ukraine. There is no confirmation of this from other sources.
