An agent group of the Russian military intelligence (GRU) was exposed in Kyiv. Three Russian agents, including one Russian citizen, were detained.
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the SSU press service.
The main task of the perpetrators was to adjust the air strikes of the Russians on the capital of Ukraine. The main targets of the enemy were defence plants and warehouses with weapons and ammunition of the Defence Forces.
"The agents acted separately, but were "locked in" to one supervisor - a GRU officer, whose identity had already been identified by SSU counterintelligence. It was established that the detained Russian spy lived in Ukraine in a "standby mode", and after the outbreak of a full-scale war, he was "activated" by the Russian military intelligence.
To adjust the enemy's fire, the Russian set up an observation post on the roof of a Kyiv high-rise building.
To gain access to the building's 'observation deck', the agent used a friendly relationship with a representative of one of the local condominiums, who had keys to all the technical rooms," the report says.
Two other defendants are an employee and a former employee of Ukrainian defence companies.
"One of them collected information about the consequences of enemy missile arrivals, the number of employees at factories, repair bases, etc. The other was secretly asking his former colleagues for the locations of potential targets.
The SSU CI documented the agents' crimes and detained them. During the searches, the SSU seized computer equipment and mobile phones with agent "reports". The SSU also seized a quadcopter, which one of the agents planned to use to spy on defence facilities from the air," the SSU said.
The detainees have been served a notice of suspicion under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- p. 2 Art. 111 (high treason committed under martial law);
- p. 3 of Art. 114-2 (unauthorised dissemination of information on the movement or deployment of the Armed Forces or other military formations formed in accordance with the laws of Ukraine committed under martial law);
- pp. 1, 3, Art. 436-2 (justification, recognition of the lawfulness, denial of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).
Two offenders are being held in custody without the right to be released on bail. A motion to impose a measure of restraint on the third offender has been filed with the court.
