Danish Defense Forces to order 130 Finnish Patria armored personnel carriers
Denmark has announced a contract for the purchase of 130 Patria armored personnel carriers manufactured in Finland. The Danish Armed Forces will receive a small number of armored personnel carriers this year.
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the press service of the Danish Ministry of Defense.
Denmark will purchase a total of 130 Patria armored personnel carriers for 1.9 billion kroner (more than 250 million euros).
"This is an example of Nordic defense cooperation. 130 armored personnel carriers will strengthen the combat power of the Danish Armed Forces. This is extremely important in the current security situation," said Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen.
How APCs will be used in Denmark
Armored personnel carriers will be used to increase the combat power of light infantry units and mechanized brigades. The vehicles will be used as command and control, communications, ambulance and electronic warfare vehicles, respectively.
The Patria armored personnel carriers were developed as part of a joint program between Sweden, Germany, Latvia and Finland, and are manufactured in Finland. They are available in several different versions.
