Putin’s sanctioned special envoy Dmitriev heads to Washington to meet with Witkoff

The CEO of the Russian sovereign wealth fund Kirill Dmitriev is planning to meet with Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff in Washington in the near future.
This was reported to Reuters by its own sources, Censor.NET informs citing Ukrinform.
"Kirill Dmitriev, the chief of Russia's sovereign wealth fund, is expected in Washington this week for talks with U.S. President Donald Trump's administration," the newsapaper states.
It is noted that this trip will be the first visit of a Russian official to the United States after the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
"Dmitriev, who was appointed by President Vladimir Putin as special investment and international economic envoy last month, will meet with U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff," Reuters said.
It is expected that Witkoff and Dmitriev will discuss ways to strengthen relations between the US and Russia amid renewed dialogue between the countries.
It is worth noting that Dmitriev has been under sanctions from the US, Canada, the EU, the UK, Australia and New Zealand since February 2022.
